Weight Loss Options
Surgical or Non-Surgical Weight Loss Which option is for me?
Texas Center proudly offers patients the best of both worlds.
Both weight loss options involve a highly trained, board-certified doctor who specializes in physician assisted weight loss and both are typically covered by insurance.
However there are also some big differences...
What are the Differences?
Surgical Weight Loss is referred to as
Bariatric Surgery
Have you struggled for years with your weight, and have a BMI of 30 or greater?
Than bariatric weight loss surgery is a great weight loss option.
Bariatric surgery has been recognized as a long lasting solution for those with over 50 pounds to lose. Patients lose weight because their stomach is smaller and/or restricted after surgery.
Non-Surgical Weight Loss is referred to as
Medical Weight Management
Have you gained extra weight recently, and have a BMI under 30?
Then non-surgical weight loss is a great option.
Medical weight management does not involve surgery. It is a solution for those with less than typically 50 pounds to lose. Patients lose weight with FDA approved weight loss medications, nutrition counseling, and meal replacement plans.

Dr Cribbins and his team went above any beyond. I was scared of the surgery at first especially since I’ve never had any surgery but Dr cribbins and his team were really nice and guided me through everything. Once I woke up I didn’t even realize it was over. Would recommend anyone interested to go talk to him because he is pretty honest and will guide you down the right path. Thanks again Dr Cribbins for the life changing experience! Also ask for Marty! He will definitely take care of you as well!
View on GoogleMy family has been working with Dr. Cribbins and his amazing staff since 2006 when he performed my husband's lap band procedure. I had the pleasure of his services in 2008 where I had my lapband put in. First of all, I have never felt so good about myself. This experience has helped me grow to understand that it is I who controls my body, not the other way around! Dr. Cribbins has always been patient and understands the difficulty in even having the courage to pursue bariatric treatment. His knowledge is beyond exceptional, wonderful bed side manner caring, and compassionate. Yesterday I brought my 19 year old daughter in for her first consultation and I couldn't be more grateful for his compassion and exceptional knowledge. He saw how down she was and he has given her hope that there is the potential for a better, healthier life to be had. He explained every detail and answered all of her questions. I love the patient success walls of before and after pictures. I know how grateful I am for Dr. Cribbins and it makes my heart swell to see how many of us who came to him out of desperation and seeing all of those smiling faces was amazing. As for the staff, I can't even begin to tell how fantastic they ALL are. Thank you to each and everyone of you. Without you guys, none of this could be such a wonderful, life changing experience. Marty, can't say enough about how cool he is My daughter only wants appointments on Tuesdays, lol. And...Dr. Cribbins is definitely a hottie! His wife is a lucky woman! We love you Dr. Cribbins and look forward to working with you for many years to come. Most of all, thank you for helping me find hope again!! Please never retire, lol!!
